# FAQs

## **Functionality & Usage**

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="What is Houdini Swap and how does it work?">
    Houdini Swap is a non-custodial cross-chain swap aggregator.

    It routes transactions across decentralized exchanges, cross-chain solvers, and selected exchange partners to execute swaps between chains.

    You select the source token and network, enter the amount, provide a recipient address, and receive a deposit address. Once funds are received, the route executes and the swapped assets are delivered to the recipient.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What is the difference between a Standard Swap and a Private Swap?">
    **Standard Swap**\
    Executes through a single routing path. Faster and typically lower cost.

    **Private Swap**\
    Uses an additional routing step to break the direct on-chain link between sender and recipient. This improves privacy but may take longer and cost slightly more.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do cross-chain swaps work?">
    Funds are received on the source network, routed through the selected liquidity path, and delivered on the destination network. The user does not need to manually bridge and then swap.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Who are the exchange partners involved?">
    Houdini works with multiple liquidity providers and exchange partners. All partners are selected based on reliability, execution quality, and compliance standards.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why does Houdini use partners instead of only smart contracts?">
    Using multiple liquidity sources allows:

    * Broader asset coverage
    * Better pricing across routes
    * Optional privacy-focused routing
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does Houdini Swap ever take custody of my funds?">
    No. Houdini is non-custodial.\
    Funds are always handled by the underlying protocol or exchange involved in the selected route.

## **Trust, Safety & Legitimacy**

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Is Houdini a mixer?">
    No. Houdini is not a mixer.

    It does not pool user funds or mix multiple users’ assets together. Each swap is routed individually through selected liquidity providers.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is Houdini legitimate and safe?">
    Houdini has been operating for over three years and has processed billions in swap volume. No user funds have ever been lost due to platform failure.

    As with any blockchain transaction, execution depends on network conditions and underlying liquidity providers.

## **Timing & Delays**

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="How long does a swap usually take?">
    Standard swaps typically complete within minutes.

    Private swaps may take longer due to additional routing steps.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why is my swap delayed?">
    Delays can occur due to:

    * Network congestion
    * Liquidity availability
    * Routing complexity
    * Processing queues on partner platforms
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My transaction is confirmed but not completed. Why?">
    Confirmation only means your deposit was received on-chain. The swap still needs to be processed and delivered.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can swaps complete faster sometimes?">
    Yes. Execution time varies depending on network conditions and routing paths.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I speed up a pending swap?">
    No. Once initiated, swaps cannot be sped up or repriced.

    If the swap has been pending for more than one hour, contact support.

## **Errors, Mistakes & Recovery**

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="What information does support need?">
    Please provide:

    * Order ID
    * Deposit transaction hash
    * Sending address
    * Receiving address
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I entered the wrong receiving address. Can I change it?">
    If you have not deposited yet, create a new order.

    If funds were already sent, the address can only be changed if the order has not reached payout stage. Contact support immediately.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What if I send the wrong token or wrong network?">
    In many cases, manual recovery is possible.

    If the token or network is unsupported, recovery may not be possible and funds could be lost.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What does 'Order Expired' mean?">
    It usually means the deposit was made outside the allowed time window. Contact support with your transaction details.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I resend funds to fix a mistake?">
    No. Only the first detected deposit is processed.\
    Additional deposits will be refunded where possible.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I cancel a swap?">
    No. Once funds are received, execution cannot be cancelled.
  </Accordion>

## **Privacy & Visibility**

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Can I send from an exchange?">
    Yes. You can send from either an exchange account or a self-custody wallet.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Are there wallets I should avoid?">
    Smart contract wallets are not recommended, as they may cause routing or payout issues.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I track my Private Swap on a block explorer?">
    Private swaps involve off-chain routing steps. There is no single on-chain transaction showing the full path between sender and recipient.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why can’t I see a direct link between sender and receiver?">
    Private swaps are designed to break that on-chain link.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What information does Houdini store?">
    Only minimal data required to process the swap.

    Order data is automatically deleted 72 hours after completion.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does Private Swap make me anonymous?">
    Private mode breaks the on-chain link between sending and receiving addresses.

    Blockchain activity itself remains public.
  </Accordion>

## **Fees & Rates**

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="What fees do I pay?">
    All fees are included in the quoted amount. The amount shown before execution reflects the expected payout.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why is the received amount slightly different?">
    Price movement and liquidity changes between quote and execution can affect the final amount.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do Private Swaps cost more?">
    Yes. Private swaps include additional routing steps, which increases cost slightly.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why was my final amount lower than quoted?">
    Market volatility and slippage between quote time and execution may cause small differences.
  </Accordion>

## **Exchange Partner Questions**

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Why did I receive funds from a KuCoin or Binance wallet?">
    Some liquidity providers use centralized exchange infrastructure. Payouts may originate from exchange hot wallets.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why are you using that exchange?">
    Partners are selected based on execution quality and compliance standards.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I don’t want to complete KYC with a partner. Can you reverse it?">
    No. Houdini does not control partner compliance processes and cannot override AML or recovery requirements.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I contacted your partner and they’re not responding. What now?">
    Continue following up directly. We will also escalate where possible, but we cannot override partner policies.
  </Accordion>

## **DEX Delays & Reverts**

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Why did my DEX swap fail?">
    Liquidity changes or price movement may cause the transaction to revert.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why did it take so long and then fail?">
    Network congestion and routing conditions can delay execution before a revert occurs.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Are reverted swaps lost?">
    No. Reverted swaps return funds to the source address.
  </Accordion>
