What it is

The Houdini Browser Extension puts the full Houdini swap interface in your browser toolbar. It runs the same non-custodial routing as the web app, across 100+ chains, so you can swap from any tab without navigating away from what you’re doing. There is no account to create and no setup step. You install it, pin it, and it’s ready.
Core Features:
  • Always one click away: The extension lives in your toolbar. No new tabs, no bookmarks, no navigating away from the page or chart you’re watching.
  • Fewer steps, fewer mistakes: Address errors are a leading cause of lost crypto. Keeping the swap in one place removes copy-pasting between windows and context switching mid-trade.
  • Built-in phishing protection: You install it once from a source you trust, and every swap after that runs through the same verified interface. No spoofed URLs, no fake front-ends.
  • Same privacy infrastructure: The extension uses the same private routing as the web app, so the on-chain link between sender and receiver is severed on every private swap.
  • No account required: No sign up, no wallet connection needed for Private and No Wallet Connect routes.

How to install

1

Open the download page

Go to the Houdini extension download page and pick your browser.
2

Add it to your browser

Confirm the install prompt in your browser’s extension store. The extension requests no wallet permissions.
3

Pin it to your toolbar

Open your browser’s extensions menu and pin Houdini so the icon stays visible. This is what makes it one click away.
4

Open it and swap

Click the icon to open the swap interface. Everything works exactly as it does in the web app.
Only install from the official download page linked above. Houdini will never ask you for a seed phrase or private key, in the extension or anywhere else.

How swapping works in the extension

The flow is identical to the web app. Nothing about routing, pricing, or privacy changes because you’re in the toolbar.
  1. Choose your pair: Select the token you’re sending and the token you want to receive, then enter the amount.
  2. Pick your routing: Choose Private, No Wallet Connect, or On-chain, the same options available on the web.
  3. Enter your receiving address: Paste the destination wallet for your output tokens.
  4. Send your funds: For Private and No Wallet Connect routes you get a unique, one-time deposit address. Send from any wallet or exchange. For On-chain routes you connect your wallet and sign as usual.
  5. Delivery: Token B arrives at your destination wallet. For private routes, the two transfers have no visible on-chain link.

Who it’s for

Ideal For:

  • Active traders: Swap between positions without switching apps or losing sight of a moving chart
  • Privacy-first users: Keep your portfolio and habits away from on-chain watchers without changing how you browse
  • Frequent swappers: Anyone who swaps often enough that opening a tab each time adds up

Not Recommended For:

  • Occasional users: If you swap rarely, the web app covers you with nothing to install
  • Locked-down environments: Managed or corporate browsers may block extension installs
  • Mobile-only users: The extension is desktop browser only
